The Seismograph / Seismometer application offers an impressive solution for detecting vibrations and movements through the sensors integrated into smartphones and tablets. It boasts a range of features that enhance user experience and functionality:
- Four distinct visualizations: seismograph/seismometer, bulls-eye, vortex, and meter.
- The ability to save daily logs for later review.
- Options to export daily logs for use in other applications, including popular spreadsheet programs.
- Adjustable sensitivity settings to tailor performance based on user requirements.
- No advertisements or in-app purchases, with no need for an internet connection or excessive permissions.
Instructions:
For optimal performance, place your device on a flat, stable surface. The application is particularly useful for detecting earthquakes and seismic activity. It is important to note that your device must be equipped with accelerometers to work effectively with GhostVibe, which is commonly found in most Apple mobile devices. Live data is displayed on the screen and refreshes approximately 30 times per second. Users can pause the app temporarily by tapping the screen to access various settings. From there, they can select one of the four available visualizations for real-time vibration data. The application automatically saves the highest readings from each second at one-minute intervals, or upon pausing the app.
Viewing Daily Logs:
To view daily logs, tap the disk icon to access records for any given day. Users can navigate the graph horizontally to explore data spanning from midnight to midnight. Navigation arrow buttons facilitate quick jumps to subsequent or preceding activity periods. Additionally, by using the share icon, users can choose to export either a complete CSV log for the day—containing every second of data—or only those seconds that capture significant events.
Sensitivity:
The sensitivity levels of displayed data can be adjusted via the cog icon. Dragging the sensitivity bar to the left reduces sensitivity, while moving it to the right increases it. Sensitivity varies by device due to differences in sensor quality; therefore, adjustments will have an impact on both the live vibration display and daily log views.
Permissions:
This application is designed with user privacy in mind: it does not display advertisements or incorporate in-app purchases. An internet connection is not required for its operation. The only permissions requested are for storing log files and remembering user settings.
